Staging a comeback
23 April 2015
Ten in ten
21 May 2015Second week of the season brought forth the win by another Serbian team after SBB Vukovi’s narrow victory in the opener. The GAT Dukes outnumbered and outgunned Cineplexx Blue Devils at home in Novi Sad on Saturday, 34-18.
GAT Dukes were the only team playing in the first half, scoring at will. Will Powell rammed through the defense for a 3 yard touchdown to put the first points on the board. His second one was a rush of 25 yards at the end of the half. In the meantime Alexander McKean connected with Powell for his first passing touchdown of 30 yards and with Bojan Davidovic for another one 40 yards long. The score at intermission was 28-0.
This first-half slap in the face woke up Cineplexx Blue Devils from their sleep. The fact that they were playing with half as many players as their opponents didn’t hinder their performance in the sequel. Their quarterback, Allan McClain equaled Powell’s spectacle from the first half, starting with a 30 yard long pass to Darrell Smith, and continued with a screen pass to Christian Bobo who took it to the house 55 yards away. McKean interrupted him with a 10 yard rush for his third score and McClain continued with a 5 yard pass to Mario Bunderla.
Cineplexx Blue Devils had outscored GAT Dukes in the second half and the outcome could’ve been much different, were it not for their late start. The season continues on 23rd May, when the League’s two undefeated teams meet to settle their domestic dispute.
