Dukes start their reign
26 April 2015Two teams sitting at the tops of their national leagues’ standing s tables are staging their comebacks to the League in the second week of the season. The team from the Alps, Cineplexx Blue Devils, descends to the plains of Vojvodina to square off against the GAT Dukes in Novi Sad at FC Kabel’s stadium on Saturday, 25 April at 13:30.
GAT Dukes are one of the League’s founding teams who is now coming back to play its sixth season, never advancing to the finals. That might be the reason they brought three oversees additions who all know how to win. Coach Doug Adkins went the distance twice with his Swedish team and took them to the Champions League, while quarterback Alexander McKean and wide receiver Will Powell both played in the finals of their league’s in Germany last season with the former lifting the trophy.
Cineplexx Blue Devils are coming back for the third time, their first appearance being the more successful one with them advancing to the finals. This season they will have a lot of players from the neighboring Switzerland, as well as three American players and coach Tyler Harlow. Their imports are quarterback Allan McClain, defensive lineman Christian Bobo and defensive back Darrell Smith, but only two of them will be able to play each game.
After last week’s brawl in Belgrade, it’s left to be seen if the other two teams might match the intensity and suspense of the season opener.
