The CNC Gladiators managed to qualify for the post season with a 26-13 win over the Novi Sad Dukes. It wasn’t pretty – their road to the playoffs that is – but at 3-5 they’ll play the Cineplexx Blue Devils in the league semifinal.

The Blue Devils secured a home postseason game with a 35-20 win over the Vukovi. The Belgrade team looked lost, after a 20-7 Blue Devils lead turned into 28-7, when the Austrians took advantage of Brandon McDowell’s fumble, but they managed to come back in the second half.

Bryan Overton and Tino Muggwyler gave the Blue Devils a 14 point lead, that was reduced to 7 by Jordan Green’s touchdown run. Eric Moore and Overton again widened the gap to 28-7, but the Vukovi made it a game with touchdown runs from McDowell and Green.

Just like they did in Belgrade, Bradley Guidry and Christian Steffani burned the Vukovi for a 50 yard touchdown, and there was no coming back for the Vukovi this time.

With their first loss of the season, Belgrade’s attempt to make it four bowl appearances in a row will have to go through Ljubljana, while the Blue Devils will host the Gladiators.
