Fight for second place
25 April 2012The Cineplexx Blue Devils concentrated not only on getting their first win of the season, but also on compensating for a relatively convincing loss in their first game against the same opponent. And they did just that, blowing out the Budapest Wolves 41-14.
The Devils built their lead in the first half and kept increasing it until late in the game, when the Wolves were able to finally put some points on the board. But it was already late by then – Vincent Müller destroyed the opponent on the ground with 162 yard and 2 touchdowns. His first gave his team the biggest lead of the game 34-0, and his second sealed the deal after the Wolves were finally able to score for the first time.
No wonder the Wolves were unable to score, as their quarterback Čaba Juhas was intercepted four times. One of those was returned for a touchdown in the second quarter and with Andrew Blakley’s first quarter touchdown reception, it was 14-0 for the home team.
The Blue Devils also scored on a fumble returned for a touchdown for a 20 point halftime lead – Blakley’s second touchdown grab put the score at 27-0. He finished with 5 receptions for 108 yards.
The Wolves’ Dávid Récsey was able to connect with Krisztián Piros and Csanád Király for two scores, but it was enough only to reduce the final score. With Müller’s two touchdown runs, it was 41-14 at the end.
