Zagreb loads up for 2012
27 December 2011Defensive MVP back in Ljubljana
12 January 2012The Vukovi Belgrade will try to win their 4th straight CEFL title in 2012 and that with a new quarterback. They have signed Lance Kriesien to lead the offense, and the running game will be handled by Brandon McDowell for the fourth straight year.
Kriesien played at Northern Arizona University for four years, last two years starting at quarterback. In his freshman and sophomore years he played a variety of position on offense, scoring several receiving touchdowns. The last two years, he was able to beat out several transfer quarterbacks from big schools for the quarterback position. He was an all conference selection in 2007 and was named a top 20 FCS QB going into 2008. He was in top five rushing for the QB position in the nation in 2007. He also served as a punter averaging 45 yards a punt.
He replaces Vinnie Miroth, last year’s offensive and CEFL Bowl MVP. Miroth himself spent just one year in Belgrade, so the team must be counting on the fact that the team is capable of winning again, even with a new quarterback.
