CEFL regular season ended last week with four games that didn’t mean much, but gave certain pointers on what might happen in the playoff.

The Budapest Wolves traveled with much less than their complete team to Bratislava, to face the third ranked Monarchs. Though they didn’t have all their players, and the game being played one week after an infamous loss to the Gladiators, that sealed their position at number two in the conference, nobody could expect the Monarchs to literally crush the Wolves — they won 36-8.

At the same time, their semifinal rival, the Vukovi Belgrade, played a game in Budapest, but against the Cowboys. Similarly to the Monarchs, they walked all over the Cowboys, scoring the second highest number of points this season, topping their previous mark of 53 set against the Monarchs. With the 59-13 win, the Vukovi are waiting for the semifinal much more comfortably than the Wolves.

The Ljubljana Silverhawks couldn’t keep the winning streak going, although it wasn’t realistic to expect them too, since they played the Gladiators. They did manage to score two garbage time touchdowns for in the 42-14 loss.

The Gladiators’ semifinal opponent won after the tough shutout loss in Belgrade the week before, but didn’t look that convincing, beating the Thunder 27-12. Zagreb lost its tenth game of the season, failing to record a win.
