The Wolves and Cowboys went back home Saturday to Budapest with a win apiece, which was a second win in five games for both teams.

The Wolves beat the Ljubljana Silverhawks for the second time this season, and those two wins are the only ones they have at the moment. This one was in Ljubljana, and it came much harder than the first one, as the score was just 18-12.

They led from the start though, with Ljubljana tying the game twice, but the home team just didn’t have enough to completely turn the game around. Noure Khoury ran for a touchdown, before Luka Potočnik tied the game up. The Wolves were still leading at the half, after Attila Lendvai connected with Krisztian Piros.

Jan Jakus caught a touchdown for another tied ballgame, but Lendvai passed for his second, this time to Csanad Kiraly. The game was much closer than the first one, that ended 35-8 for the Wolves. No extra points were scored all game, with two blocked and one missed, along with two failed two point conversions.

The other team from Budapest, Cowboys, also took part in a game with a rather surprising scoreline, because they cruised to a 26-6 win in Bratislava over the Monarchs. The Cowboys snapped the Monarchs’ two game winning streak mostly on Zsolt Vereb’s three touchdowns together with a touchdown from Bálint Michaletzky, for a 20 point win not many saw coming.

The Cowboys are still far behind the top two teams in the standings, but this win is encouraging before their final spring game next week in Zagreb. The Wolves will sure thank them, because they jumped over the Monarchs thanks to that loss.
