New shot in Belgrade
29 March 2012The Central European Football League is very glad to announce a big change. The new official league name will be Sport Klub CEFL, since the league has come to terms with Sport Klub, one of the largest European sports television networks.
Under the terms of the deal, Sport Klub becomes the exclusive broadcasting rights holder for all league games this season.
“The Top Central European American Football teams – throughout the past 5 years – have been able to collect decent contributions to their annual budgets through participation fees paid out by the CEFL network. Apart from funding through corporate league sponsors, the distribution of TV broadcasting rights has so far been an important source of funding of CEFL and its teams. The agreement with Sport Klub will have a significant impact for the further development of american football throughout Central Europe“, said Gabriel Dielacher from the CEFL Governing Board.
Sport Klub operates in several European countries, including most countries with CEFL teams, namely Serbia, Hungary and Slovenia. It’s also present in Poland and Romania, and Sport Klub Serbia is available in several countries of the former Yugoslavia. They are available on satellite and cable, with programming ranging from covering NCAA american football to top European football and basketball leagues.
The CEFL and Sport Klub cooperated already in 2009, when the channel broadcast several league games, including the overtime thriller when the Blue Devils visited Belgrade, one of the best CEFL games of all time.
“Even a few years ago, when american footbal wasn’t very interesting for any television, Sport Klub went ahead with that project … This step, the cooperation between Sport Klub and the league is just a normal thing that followed. The sport that has the largest expansion in the region is coming back on the most watched television in the region”, said Nemanja Simeunović, the CEO of Sport Klub Serbia.
