Against a team that humiliated them in the season opener, the Zagreb Thunder demonstrated that they are in fact getting better as the season progresses, although they are still winless. They lost for the ninth time this season, but still hung on somewhat until the third quarter, before eventually losing 41-10 to the Vukovi. Both of these teams are now a game away; the Thunder from finishing out the regular season, and the Vukovi from reaching first place, if they can win next week.

The visitors from Belgrade scored the first 20 points, getting the first points on a touchdown run by receiver Igor Vukoje. Vukoje and fellow receiver Bratislav Bošnjak, two players that the Vukovi brought in during the summer break had a good start to their CEFL careers. With Vukoje scoring the first touchdown of the game, Bošnjak caught two in the second half, with the second one being the game breaker.

It was pretty much routine at one point for the Vukovi – Uroš Milić scored on a 12 yard run, and Marko Bates scored his third defensive touchdown this season after an interception, but the Thunder managed to make it interesting before the half, scoring on a punt return by Nikola Crnković.

Still, that’s as far as they went, as Bošnjak caught his two and Zagreb could only score on a field goal by Marko Tošić, just like he did in Belgrade five months ago.

In the fourth quarter, William Blocker confirmed his status of the best special teams player in the league, returning a punt for the game’s final points.
