24 October 2007It took a little longer, but the votes for best offensive and defensive player for the 2007 SELAF season are finally in. The six coaches along with three votes from the media have elected the Wolves’ fullback, and league leading rusher Péter Cseperkáló as the Offensive Player, while the Wild Boars’ safety Marko Košutić just edged out the competition as the best defensive player this year.
| Offense | Defense | |
|---|---|---|
| Dukes | Cseperkáló | Lalić |
| Vukovi | Cseperkáló | Košutić |
| Gladiators | A. Tasić | Košutić |
| Silverhawks | Cseperkáló | Lalić |
| Wild Boars | P. Tasić | Iv. Nedeljković |
| Wolves | Juhas | Košutić |

| Sportski Žurnal | Cseperkáló | Košutić |
Cseperkáló was head and shoulders above the rest of the league, rushing for 745 yards in seven games not counting the playoffs, nearly double than the next player on the league leading list. He also has a 200 yard game, after his 214 yard performance against the Silverhawks, and a total of nine touchdowns, with no fumbles prior to the semifinal.
The semifinal was his poorest game this year, when he gained only 16 yards and also fumbled twice. Fortunately he will have one more shot at finishing his great year in a more positive way in the CEFL Bowl.
Košutić’s award was less convincing as he got four out of nine votes, but it came down to just one vote. Košutić and the Vukovi’s linebacker Dušan Lalić were tied with three votes each before the final vote came in.
Despite his team remaining winless for the season, Košutić won the award after finishing the year as the leading tackler with 41.5 and number one in interceptions with 5.
Cseperkáló’s selection was no where near as close, as he got five votes and four other players got just one each.
