Vukovi clinch bowl appearance
25 May 2013The Ljubljana Silverhawks last played in Belgrade when they took part in CEFL Bowl VII, eventually beating the home team to win their first championship. The talk of a rematch died down a bit, after a big Vukovi win in Ljubljana in the first half of the season.
The SBB Vukovi sit on top of the standings with a convincing 3-0, after having beaten all of their opponents this year by an average of 27 points per game. They now have a chance to clinch a Bowl appearance, since only the Wild Boars would be able to finish ahead of them in the standings.
The Silverhawks on the other hand finally won last weekend, keeping the hope alive that they’ll be able to defend their trophy on the field. A loss here would not eliminate all of their chances, but they’d help from other teams.
They showed promise in Budapest, scoring 47 points in Budapest, with their quarterback Keith Lockwood leading the way passing for five touchdowns. But they also allowed 33 points to a team that previously averaged just under 18 in three games.
The games the Vukovi played this season have all been similar. A dominating first half, where they conceded just three points in three games and then successfully defending the lead until the end of the game. That was also the case in the two teams’ previous game, where the Vukovi held a 0-29 lead in Ljubljana at halftime.
If the Silverhawks are to make something of this game, they’d better start in the first half already. The game will be played Saturday from 1.30PM CET.
