The Blue Dragons host the Cineplexx Blue Devils on Saturday in Belgrade in the first leg of the new competition, the CEFL Cup

The Blue Dragons host the Cineplexx Blue Devils on Saturday in Belgrade in the first leg of the new competition, the CEFL Cup. The game will kick off at 11 on the well known Ada Ciganlija field, where the last CEFL Bowl was won.

As it was said when the CEFL Cup was introduced, the idea behind it is to allow teams to get a chance to participate in the CEFL even if they don’t have enough available weekends to participate in the full regular season. In the future it could lead to more teams taking part and a playoff spot for the winner of the Cup.

The Blue Dragons have never played in the CEFL, so it is difficult to rate them. They have had moderate success in the past in the Serbian league and have an improved team this year, as stated in our season preview.

Their opponent on the other hand brings some old and some new faces from their 2-4 CEFL team from last year. They will be led by a new quarterback this year – again – Harrison Daniels, who graduated from Princeton University last year, where he finished his career playing defensive back.

The rematch will be played on the 13th of April in Austria and the winner will be the team with the most points on aggregate score.
