CEFL Bowl in Budapest
13 July 2011
Where they belong?
19 July 2011The Vukovi Belgrade will play in the CEFL Bowl next Saturday for their third straight CEFL title. But as champions. They beat the Wild Boars this Saturday in the final of the Serbian league, with the score of 36-51.
A very similar score to their regular season game, also on the Wild Boars’ turf in Kragujevac. Only then, the Wild Boars triumphed. But despite that, and the fact the Wild Boars played in the EFAF Cup final this year, it could be said the Vukovi came into the game expecting to win. Stan Bedwell, quarterback and one of the best players of the Boars, was injured in London in the EFAF Cup title game and could not play.
Despite all this, the Boars were in good position, leading 34-25 at one point. The ever changing score saw the Wild Boars take the lead, with the Vukovi following and topping them 20-25. The Boars countered with two scores, but four straight touchdowns of the Vukovi sealed the championship for them.
Although the defending champions now, both teams hold a claim to the 2010 title. The Serbian league split in 2009, with the Vukovi leading several other teams, and both teams won the league in their respective federations in 2010. The split finally ended this year with the Wild Boars and other teams from the former federation joined the one formed in 2009. All of the teams participate now in the SAAF’s “Superliga”.
