Easy win for Belgrade
8 May 2011Cavaliers send Mays home
12 May 2011One of the best players that took part in CEFL play will return to the same team he played for in 2009. Joseph Moncur, or just Bo for his teammates, will wear the Silverhawks jersey again in 2011.
It’s safe to say that Moncur was the key player on their 2009 squad, although he took part in only three games, two in the regular season. The Silverhawks made the playoffs for the first time that year, and although they almost managed that without him, his 310 yards on the ground in his debut basically sealed the deal.
Other than that, he went for 135 in the semifinal against the Vukovi. The Silverhawks could’ve maybe gone further, but an injury limited him near the end of the game.
That and some other factors played a role in him not returning for 2010. Still, there was interest again this year and in the end the Silverhawks got their man.
“At the beginning of the season, we spoke with him and made an inquiry, but we brought in a linebacker and a quarterback and that was basically it”, says the Silverhawks’ coach Uroš Valant.
“For anything else there was no money at that time. But since some rumors circulated later, we were able to get the finances, but only if we would get him.”
Moncur will likely play this week against the Cavaliers in Istanbul, but Valant says he does not know how much and that they’d try to see how much he can do right now.
But if it all works out, and since the Silverhawks already have two imports, it could change the picture in the CEFL dramatically this season. The Silverhawks lost to the Vukovi in the season opener, but they still have five games remaining.
