Silverhawks will host 2010 CEFL finals
8 July 2010Vukovi will defend CEFL title against Silverhawks, as reigning champions defeated Istanbul Cavaliers 48-0, while team from Ljubljana won 31-14 their semi-finals clash with Budapest Wolves.
Title holders faced Turkish champions for the first time in their history, but the job was more then easier then Vukovi expected – due to visa problems Cavaliers faced. “Schengen White List”, which Serbia recently was included in, was a sudden problem for Istanbul team, and due to problems with visas Cavaliers came without huge amount of their regular players to Belgrade. It was force too weak for dominant Vukovi.
Already in first quarter Anthony Stubbs kick-off return for 95 yard, Jordan Green 2-yard-run, and Green’s 54-yard-pass to Pavle Radenović built Vukovi 21-0 lead. It was all over after Green’s second TD-pass, this time 65 yards long to Andrej Tasić and Uroš Jovanović’s 75-yard-run in second period. Runs from McDowell (35 yards) and Tasić (17 yards) made the final score in Belgrade, where Vukovi never lost a game.
In Slovenia, after quite intriguing first half which was finished with Silverhawks’ 7-0 lead, Jordan Capitanio was way too much for Wolves.
His 95-yard touchdown pass to Rok Štamcar was just one of his scores, as two touchdown runs of Silverhawks’ leader with Jure Bezica interception returned for TD were more then enough for historic win from Ljubljana’s team.
This season Vukovi won both battles with Silverhawks: they’ve overcame 0-10 deficit in first one on the way to 21-10 win, and in Ljubljana reigning champions won 15-28.
