2010: Wolves
8 March 2010
2010: Cavaliers
14 March 2010The CEFL’s new season kicks off with two games on April the 10th; both games will be played in Serbia, with the Vukovi hosting the Silverhawks and the Dukes hosting the Wolves.
The 2010 season will be played in a different format then the previous three, resembling slightly to the first CEFL season in 2006. Out of 6 teams competing, 4 will play a classic 6-game season, with every team playing the other teams twice, and the biggest difference this year is that the Cineplexx Blue Devils and the Istanbul Cavaliers will play a Wild Card game that would give them the 4th playoff seed.
The reigning champs begin their title defense in Belgrade against the Silverhawks — or, it could be better said that the Silverhawks begin their 2010 season against a team that ended their 2009 season. A rematch of last year’s semifinal game will be an even bigger challenge for the SIlverhawks considering the Vukovi are undefeated in all competitions at home since 2006.
In Novi Sad, the Dukes meet the Wolves, where one of the two teams will take an early lead in the race for not just the playoff spot, but also one of the top two spots and a home playoff game.
Speaking of a home playoff game, it will be interesting to see which team will actually want the number one seed in the league, considering the winner of the Blue Devils – Cavaliers Wild Card game will hardly be an easy team to beat.
This season will also be the first in which all games will be played during the spring and early summer months, unlike previous years when the season ended in October. Full schedule available here.
