Teams have been expecting the finals with bated breath and whispering humbleness all season. After a wild journey of taking turns at the top of the standings the bowl game has finally come for the prime pair. SBB Vukovi will travel to Silverhawks’ doorstep to defend the title in Ivančna Gorica on Sunday with the kickoff at 13:00. The bowl game will be aired on regional television SportKlub.

Having played in all eight finals so far and winning five, SBB Vukovi had a rocky ride this time. Their fans have awaited a rematch with the Silverhawks this season with crossed fingers and trepidation and the reason was simple. After a lucky break against the Wild Boars in their first matchup, blocking what would be a winning field goal in the final seconds, and losing to them in the second game, they stumbled versus the Silverhawks as well. Finding themselves in the third spot at the standings, second time around against the Slovenian team SBB Vukovi needed a win of 14+ points difference. They won with double that just to make sure, jumping over two teams and taking top spot, never to look over their shoulders again.

Meanwhile, the Silverhawks have directed their own show-stoppers. They had to shock the world twice this season to prove themselves worthy of the finals. First they have beaten heavily favored SBB Vukovi with no import players by nine points difference, only to lose to the Wild Boars at home and SBB Vukovi in the rematch. Doing so, they dug themselves in a deep hole of a 19+ points difference for a chance to advance to the finals. But, when they needed to resurrect they stepped up, performing a virtual miracle by beating the Wild Boars in Kragujevac by a 21 point differential. Their Cinderella story has won them a huge following who is now hoping for one final marvel to complete their unbelievable season.

This time though, it will not be a David and Goliath battle that it might have been in the previous seasons. These teams have clashed twice before for the championship, winning one each, with this third matchup being the tiebreaker. SBB Vukovi are hoping for a repeat of the 2010 finals when they beat the Silverhawks at the same venue in Ivančna Gorica where this bowl game will be played. On the other hand the Silverhawks are hoping for a repeat of a 2012 season when they surprised SBB Vukovi in Belgrade, raising the trophy for the first time.
