The Ljubljana Silverhhawks host the Cineplexx Blue Devils on Saturday in the league’s second semi final playoff game. The game will be played from 5.30PM CET in Športni park, Domžale. Both teams have up until now played once in the CEFL Bowl, but only one will get another chance against Belgrade, the team that awaits them.

Although the days when making the playoffs was a big success for the Silverhawks are long gone, there is still a feeling that it’s one of the biggest they played to date. If nothing else, it has rarely been the case that they host such an important game as an overwhelming favorite to win.

The Silverhawks have been one of the two dominant teams this season, to put it mildly. With a little more luck, they could’ve finished the season as the best and undefeated team of the season. But even with a 5-1 record, they are clear favorites against a somewhat disappointing team, that the Blue Devils have been this season. They also beat them twice during the course of the regular season.

The Blue Devils won just two games this year, in a season where a stronger performance from them was expected. The whole year started on the wrong foot, as they were outplayed in Budapest in their opening game. And although they got the rematch against the Budapest team, they only managed to also beat the Patriots – the only winless team of the season.

The Silverhawks also await the Blue Devils in good spirits. Not only did they completely destroy the Budapest Wolves in their last meaningful regular season game, but they also just recently won the Slovenian championship for the third straight time. The SBB Vukovi did their part in defending their home turf a week ago, and now await for the winner. If the regular season is the right indicator, the Silverhawks will join them. But of course, playoffs are a new season and as always: win or go home.
