SBB Vukovi storm Zagreb
18 March 2012After an almost 8-month break, the CEFL is back in action this weekend.
The two newcomers, including the returning Blue Devils, will make their debut this weekend. The Zagreb Patriots will play their first ever CEFL game when they host the SBB Vukovi on Sunday. The Cineplexx Blue Devils will on the other hand play in Budapest against the Wolves, for the first time since 2009.
The Wolves were no match for the Blue Devils back then, but of course things change. Especially in case of the Devils, who will play with a very much different team than back then. The game kicks off 4PM CET at the Wolves usual regular season playing field – Láng-Vasas Sporttelep. The Blue Devils had a strong showing in preseason and the game will do much to show where they currently rank in the league.
Zagreb represents a much less experienced team, although some of their players already played in the league when the Thunder was still a member of the league. Although they have shown commitment to forming a successful CEFL team, hiring an American coach and import players, they will do well if they can erase the memories of the highly unsuccessful Thunder participation.
The SBB Vukovi are coming to town with a new name, coach and quarterback, but otherwise are still likely making plans to make it to yet another CEFL Bowl. The game is played on Sunday 3PM CET at SRC Svetice in Zagreb.
Every team will play 6 games during the 2012 CEFL regular season; twice against two teams, and once against the remaining two teams. Both the Wolves – Blue Devils and Patriots – Vukovi matchups will be replayed this season.
