Droughns: It will be tough for Vukovi in the Finals
15 July 2010CEFL coaches have voted, and decided: MVP awards for 2010 go to Silverhawks’ Jordan Capitanio and Vukovi’s Miloš Lišanin!
Two teams that will meet in CEFL 2010 Finals will have two MVPs on the field, one against another. Capitanio, offensive leader of team from Ljubljana, guided the Silverhawks to their first CEFL Finals in club’s history, while Lišanin anchored Vukovi’s defense and once again proved there’s no DE in Central European Football League like himself.
Capitanio scored in every CEFL 2010 game he played, including four rushing and one passing TD against Dukes, “4 & 3” in three matches against Budapest Wolves, and he was lethal against Vukovi, too. In their first encounter, in Belgrade, he rushed for almost 100 yards and one touchdown as Silverhawks took 0-10 lead, but then failed to prevent comeback of reigning champions. In their second match, Capitanio rushed for 200 yards and scored once, but – Vukovi were victorious once again.
“This is a big honor for me and also for my teammates, especially because I was chosen by my opponents. That for itself speaks volumes. I’ve been playing football for 16 years and being given this distinguished tittle, I must say, I’m very proud”, said Capitanio.
Lišanin, who was defensive leader of Vukovi in 2009, once again dominated against offensive lines he faced. He became defensive MVP for second consecutive year and with app. 6 tackles per game this defensive end was one of crucial players for another path to the finals.
Behind Capitanio and Lišanin their team-mates from Silverhawks and Vukovi respectively were runner-ups in CEFL 2010 MVP voting. Ljubljana’s strong safety David Turšič and reigning champions’ running back Brandon McDowell were close in the voting, but finished behind awarded players for 2010.
Still, all four of them will clash on Sunday, July 18, at 16 CET – when CEFL 2010 Finals will kick-off with Silverhawks and Vukovi facing each other in the battle for the trophy of Central European Football League.
