25 April 2010CEFL on Arena Sport television
29 April 2010The 2010 season will be the third year that the league has television presence. The 2010 broadcast season kick off this week when two Serbian teams meat in Belgrade. The Vukovi host the Dukes and the game will be aired on Arena Sport 4.
Playing the Vukovi in Belgrade was always a difficult thing for the Dukes. Unlike Novi Sad, where the Dukes have had a lot of success, they’ve never won in Belgrade. Additionally, this game couldn’t be played at a worse time for the Dukes. Their last game: 48-0 loss in Ljubljana. Their last game in Belgrade: 48-0 loss in the Serbian league final last year, that officially kicked off the roughest stretch in the team’s history.
Now, the Dukes have already lost 2 games this season, and are currently last. Although the rest of the pack is not too much in front, the game is critical because an 0-3 record is not only ugly to look at, but it would nail them to the bottom of the standings.
The Vukovi have everything going for them in this game on the other hand. They’ve recovered from a not so convincing opening game with a 31-21 win in Budapest and not only that, but they might have found a solution for their backup quarterback role. And it’s their maybe all time best known players of all people.
Andrej Tasić officially retired last year due to recurring knee problems, but on him being included on this year’s roster the team had a simple explanation: his knee is now healthy. While the Vukovi wait for the return of their starting quarterback Jordan Green, Tasić managed to just throw an interception in the first game against the Silverhawks, but passed for his first CEFL touchdown since 2007 last weekend in Budapest.
The expectations before the game are somewhat one sided and similar. The Dukes are not what they used to be and are falling behind all the other teams making them an unlikely winner in what was once a big big game. The game kicks off 2PM in Belgrade.
