Great times, hard times

Maybe next time
25 April 2010The Budapest Wolves will host the Vukovi Belgrade on Saturday at BVSC Stadium. Since both teams opened the season with a win, the winner of the game that starts 4:30 PM in the Hungarian capital will at least at the start of the season reach first place in the standings. However, it’s difficult to imagine that the Wolves will have this in mind when their opponent comes to town.
No, after 3 years of playing the Serbian team, and 3 years of always playing a similar game, always staying close and in the end, always losing, the motive in this game is clear for the Wolves. And that’s getting a win, after six losses, a stretch full of one-point, one-score or two-score losses.
It’s almost unbelievable that the Wolves failed to win at least once. Not many teams beat the Vukovi in the last years, but it was done, and it was done by teams the Wolves themselves had no problems of beating. Their week 1 win over the Dukes and the Vukovi’s struggle against the Silverhawks was even more hope they could finally do it, but that is now being looked in a different light following the week in which the Silverhawks killed the Dukes 48-0.
The Vukovi did not have their best game and it’s doubtful they will until they get Jordan Green back fully ready. It’s still of course too early in the season to get a feel who might be the favorite to win – especially because even the Wolves didn’t have all their players in Novi Sad. But it does look it’s a good opportunity for them, playing at home, against a team that didn’t shine two weeks ago.
